根據(jù)工藝要求確定被調(diào)量，是自動調(diào)節(jié)系統(tǒng)設(shè)計的一個重要組成部分。除了要考慮工藝上的其體要求及條件外，還要注意到所選擇的被調(diào)量能真正穩(wěn)定生產(chǎn)、提高產(chǎn)品產(chǎn)量和質(zhì)量、改善勞動條件等，同時被調(diào)量還可直接測量。被調(diào)量有直接參數(shù)和間接參數(shù)，選擇直接參數(shù)。例如，可選汽包水位作為蒸汽鍋爐汽包水位調(diào)節(jié)系統(tǒng)的被調(diào)量，因為水位過高，影響蒸汽質(zhì)量，水位過高和過低均會造成嚴重事故，直接與鍋爐安全運行和產(chǎn)品質(zhì)量有關(guān)。當(dāng)不能用直接參數(shù)作為被調(diào)量時，應(yīng)該選擇一個與直接參數(shù)有單值函數(shù)關(guān)系的間接參數(shù)作為被調(diào)量，并且靈敏度高。例如，鍋爐燃燒調(diào)節(jié)系統(tǒng)，選擇煙氣中的氧氣作為被調(diào)量，它間接地反映了燃燒經(jīng)濟性。
