The market for hybrid and electric vehicles (HEV/EV) is growing rapidly. The increasing electrification of vehicles in the market has brought new challenges to auto design and manufacture. Many HEV and EV manufacturers have migrated their power conversion designs to broadbａnd gap (WBG) devices, such as silicon carbide (SiC), for greater efficiency (extended range) and higher power in smaller, lighter and cooler (less heat dissipation) packages. But there are important issues to consider to ensure that these new designs are safe and reliable.
Teck is working closely with industry leaders in the HEV/EV power conversion market to help them make the transition smoothly, using WBG devices in their designs. Using these relationships, we have developed a first-class modeling tool and a complete set of power circuit simulator tools that enable WBG device designers to create models more easily than ever before. The test suite (which includes curve tracking, S parameters, and dual pulse tester hardware) measures against real WBG devices and USES advanced modeling software to build complex WBG device models that are unique to teck. Subsequently, advanced design system software of German science and technology can use these models to simulate and analyze the influence of high-frequency components on design reliability and EMI. Before entering the prototyping stage, engineers can modify the design to avoid unnecessary design process, thus saving time and cost.
